OUR MISSION

The Higher Education Video Game Alliance is the leading academic association advocating for the critical role video game programs play in higher education, industry, and government. Our mission is to create a platform for higher education leaders which will underscore the cultural, scientific, and economic importance of video game programs in colleges and universities. The key is to create a robust network of resources—including unified advocacy, policymaker engagement, media coverage, and external funding—in order to incubate and harness the impact of this community in a 21st century learning environment.

Reaffirming HEVGA’s Value Statement on Diversity & Inclusion

In the wake of the death of George Floyd and countless other black men, women, and trans people of color, HEVGA wants to reassure members that we are committed to diversity and inclusion, active intervention, and advocacy. RESEARCH

Research in games in higher education has bloomed into a multifaceted and transdisciplinary field that is innovative, diverse, and imaginative. It is tackling big questions about social structure and solving equally visceral personal problems. At its core, education helps shape the adults that will build tomorrow, and gives them the knowledge and resources to be productive in ways that are meaningful for a global society.

MEMBERSHIP

Why join HEVGA? Join HEVGA to participate in annual meetings and other Alliance events, network with other professionals through Alliance events, meetings, discussion boards, and participate in dialogue on focus areas such as tenure and promotion, diversity, and standards. Categories of membership include Faculty, Student, and the Affiliate Level for those not currently enrolled or employed by an institution.
